Texada Island salmon fishing

Texada Island sits in DFO Pacific Area 15 on the Sunshine Coast coast. This page covers when salmon run here and the recreational salmon limits and closures in effect. For live wind, waves, tides and an hourly fishing score, see the Texada Island forecast.

When salmon run at Texada Island

Chinook move along the island on migration and hold near the points and drop-offs, with summer the main season. Coho move through in autumn. Prawn and crab are taken in the sheltered water, subject to seasonal openings and area closures.

Salmon limits for Area 15 (as of September 16, 2026)

chinook 2 per day; chum 2 per day; coho 2 per day in 15-1, 2 per day in 15-2 to 15-6; pink 4 per day; sockeye non retention.

1 salmon closure area is in effect today, including Tidal Waters in Area 15. A closure overrides the area-wide limit where they overlap.

See the full Area 15 regulations for the complete limits tables and subarea boundaries. Openings change in-season - always confirm on DFO before fishing.
