Chinook and coho are the main species through summer and into autumn, with fish moving along the coast and staging off the entrance. Halibut are taken on the offshore banks, and the deeper ground holds bottom fish. The Somass sockeye return into Alberni Inlet is the major summer event in the adjoining inside water.
