Salmon runs, limits and closures for Langara Island · DFO Area 1
Langara Island sits in DFO Pacific Area 1 on the North Coast coast. This page covers when salmon run here and the recreational salmon limits and closures in effect. For live wind, waves, tides and an hourly fishing score, see the Langara Island forecast.
Langara is best known for large chinook, which move past the island in numbers from late spring through the summer - this is the classic early-season destination fishery on the coast. Coho follow later in the summer and into autumn. Halibut are taken on the surrounding banks. The season is short and weather-dependent.
chinook 2 per day; chum 4 per day; coho 4 per day; pink 4 per day; sockeye 4 per day.
No salmon closure areas are in effect in Area 1 today, but a closure can be posted at any time.
See the full Area 1 regulations for the complete limits tables and subarea boundaries. Openings change in-season - always confirm on DFO before fishing.
The full Langara Island guide covers the setting, hazards and how the water behaves, with the live forecast and fishing score. See which areas are calmest tomorrow or this weekend, or browse fishing by species and all BC locations.
