Chinook are present through the summer, with the Discovery Passage area drawing fish on migration. Pinks return in huge numbers in odd-numbered years. Coho move through in autumn. The many channels and back-eddies concentrate bait, so fishing here follows current stage closely.

Six salmon closure areas are in effect today, including Discovery Passage, Phillips Arm and Proposed Homayno Marine Refuge - Northern Portion and others. A closure overrides the area-wide limit where they overlap.
