This is prime chinook water through the summer, with fish moving along the shoreline structure rather than holding in one spot. Coho arrive later, generally from late summer onward, and can be found closer to the surface. Halibut are taken on the deeper ground offshore. Bait concentrations move constantly, so the productive depth and distance from shore change week to week.

Two salmon closure areas are in effect today, including Juan de Fuca Strait Salmon Closure and Swiftsure Bank Salmon Closure. A closure overrides the area-wide limit where they overlap.
